Vans Warped Tour 2018: Shakopee, MN
For the 23rd year, Vans Warped Tour rode into Minnesota with it's sweat, dirt, and long lines around artist tents. Although attendance was down this year, the enthusiastic and veteran Warped goers packed into Canterbury Park on Sunday, ready to mosh and jump like they have for over two decades.
Houston pop-trio Waterparks started at Warped Tour in 2013 playing at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands stage and ended at the Journey's Left Foot stage. Their bright colors and bright sounds made the crowd jump and imagine beach balls bouncing among them. A band that also performed on the Left Foot Stage was Mayday Parade, an almost decade old veteran. From "Tales Told by Dead Friends" (2006) to "Sunnyland" (2018), Mayday Parade has been a part of the pop-punk emo scene and has made an important mark on the scene with their advocacy for mental health and helping young artists. They played their classics like "Jamie All Over" and "Black Cat" and the crowd knew every word.
Electric and interactive and classics Four Year Strong, formed in 2001 - as it boasted on their stage decor, is another seasoned group who performed on the last Shakopee tour stop. The crowd watched, sang, and moshed like it was the first Warped Tour debut in 2008.
